About

André Drage is a Norwegian drummer, composer and producer born in Bergen and raised in Telemark Norway. Living in Oslo since 2012, he has toured all over Europe, in Japan, Indonesia, Zimbabwe and Malawi with various projects. Drage is a band leader and composer with his own jazz- fusion band André Drage group and contemporary-prog project André Drages – Tip the scales. He currently plays drums for the hardrock trio Draken, ethno-jazz-funk band Aquafaba, noize-impro duo Kennel, and drums/electronics duo De la transistor.

André Drages drumming in various projects has been described as groovy and organic, with technical finesse. His preferred style of choice is jazz-fusion, funk music, rock and roll, and improvised music.

His musical influences range from Frank Zappa, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Gong, Soft Machine, King Crimson, Jimi Hendrix, Chick Corea, Ohio players, The meters, The Mars Volta, Elephant9, Steve Reich, Ravel, Brian Eno, Aphex Twin, Black Sabbat, High On Fire, Meshuggah, Russian Circles, Kate Bush and Queens of the Stone age.

His favorite drummers are Billy Cobham, Tony Williams, Buddy Miles, Mitch Mitchell, Jon Bonham, James Gadson, Gary Novak, Audun Kleive, Jon Christensen, Jon Teodore, Pierre Moerlen and Vinni Colauta.

In 2024 Drage startet his own record label Drage records.
